Cork
Ferries to the UK mainland resumed in March 2010 with the launch of
the Cork to Swansea (Wales) service. The ten hour overnight sailing
to the UK is scheduled to make eight crossings per week. The
operators, Fastnet Line are using their fully refurbished ship, the
MV Julia for the service. The Julia is fitted with a choice of cabins
plus a bar, restaurant, cinema and children's play area to make the
crossing as comfortable as possible.
The new route
is expected to boost tourism in both the Republic of Ireland and the
UK. Swansea is located next to the M4 motorway making it ideal for
those wishing to tour or travel on to other parts of the UK. Cork
offers a gateway to the republic, and a great starting point for
those looking to tour the historic country. |
