The
re-introduction of the Cork ferry crossing from the Republic of
Ireland to Great Britain ensures passengers now have easy access to
Southern England for holidays or business trips. The ten hour ferry
from Cork to Swansea on board the MV Julia ship allows passengers
plenty of time to plan their onward journey. There are no direct Cork
ferries to England but it is easy to reach that part of the UK from
the Swansea ferry port, which is located close to the M4 motorway,
making it ideal for those travelling with a vehicle.
In fact the M4
motorway spans 200 miles from Swansea all the way to the English
capital, London. Other destinations are also quick and easy to reach
using the motorway system. Bristol is just over an hour from Swansea,
whilst Birmingham, Southampton and Manchester can be reached within
three hours. For those heading to the South West holiday resorts of
Devon and Cornwall, simply take the M4 motorway and then on to the M5 south.
Cork ferries
to England via rail are also possible. Swansea railway station is
under two miles from the docks and located in Swansea High Street,
postcode SA1 1NU. A regular bus service operates from the ferry
terminal to the railway station. From the railway station you can get
mainline services to London Paddington and Manchester Piccadilly plus
many other destinations.
For those
travelling into England via coach. The Swansea Quadrant Bus and Coach
Station is located in Plymouth Street which is just five minutes from
the ferry terminal. It is adjacent to the Quadrant shopping centre.
You will be able to access many towns throughout England using the
extensive coach network.
